A First Look at the 2023 Honda CR-V

What We Know About the Next Generation, All New Honda CR-V 2023

The all-new 2023 Honda CR-V will arrive in 2022 with a rugged redesign that is certain to please. While Honda hasn’t released many details other than a few spy photos and limited specs, the redesigned SUV is expected to be available with a traditional combustion engine and a fuel-efficient hybrid system.

At Spitzer Honda Cleveland, we’re excited about the next-gen CR-V and its sportier driving experience and impressive appearance.

What Will the Redesign Include?

The big question about the new release is regarding the 2023 Honda CR-V interior. Will it continue to offer seating for five or will Honda add a third row, like the Volkswagen Tiguan?

What we do know is that 2023 seems to be the year of the SUV for Honda, as it is not only releasing an updated CR-V but a newly redesigned HR-V and Pilot. Thanks to a few teaser images, it’s clear the 2023 CR-V and CR-V Hybrid will come with a modern upright nose, prominent grille, and new headlights and taillights.

Improved Fuel-Efficient Powertrains

Honda insiders expect the CR-V to have an updated version of the 1.5-liter turbo four-cylinder engine. Honda has shared that the CR-V will be available with a hybrid powertrain, and some experts predict it might be available as a fully electric vehicle before the release of the 2024 Prologue. With the 2023 Honda CR-V release date in late summer 2022, all questions will soon be answered.

With upgraded powertrains, experts predict the CR-V Hybrid will deliver more than the current 212 horsepower. The 2022 EPA-estimated combined fuel economy on the CR-V Hybrid is 38 MPG, and Honda is expected to better this in the 2023 model. As for the non-hybrid powertrain, the newest generation should deliver more than the current 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque.

Experts predict the 2023 Honda CR-V will still include the continuously variable automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive. Since drivers appreciate having the option of all-wheel drive, Honda should continue this popular feature, too.

Another prediction involves the trim levels. The compact SUV currently comes in several trims, including the base LX, mid-level EX, and top Touring. The Touring will most likely come with standard all-wheel drive and other luxury features, while the LX and EX will have standard features like the Honda Sensing technology and impressive infotainment features.
